Spring 2015 Assessing Student Writing for the World We Live In – Nicole Gonzales Howell

In this workshop we will discuss the role of writing assessment and consider methods for establishing equitable and effective writing assessment practices. Specifically, this workshop is designed to provide resource materials for improving the processes and methods for assessing the writing of all students, but will have an emphasis on understanding how evaluation and assessment may pose particular challenges for multilingual students whose primary language is not English. Ultimately participants will leave with a better understanding of the complex relationship between learning outcomes, the teaching process, and assessing student work.
