Spring 2015 Multilingual Writing Across the Disciplines – Tika Lamsal

How do multilingual writers’ differences in rhetorical patterns surface in their writing? What are the challenges facing multilingual writing across the disciplines? How do teachers design strategies to help these students succeed in disciplinary writing and communication? What pedagogical practices do the multilingual students mostly benefit from? The purpose of this workshop is to address these questions in relation to multilingual writing across the disciplines. This workshop helps us explore how teaching and tutoring strategies that recognize and channel cultural, linguistic, and academic resources of multilingual students prove effective in helping these students better learn and succeed in disciplinary writing.
